As a recognized State of Michigan Trail Grant Sponsor, for over 14 years the Snowmobile and ORV Association of Alger County has been managing and maintaining multi-use trail systems in Michigan’s Central Upper Peninsula. Our dedicated focus is working closely with the community and other users, creating a premier trail riding hub of the Upper Peninsula. As a 501c3, non-profit organization, our full volunteer team takes pride in providing the most enjoyable snowmobile and ORV trails possible. This is a never ending, year-round task involving hands-on brushing, signing, grading, equipment maintenance and repair, record keeping, grant writing, map management, trail reports, safety classes and so much more.
SORVA of Alger County started off in 2004 Grant Sponsoring 78 miles of 50” ORV trail in Northern Luce County. The Pine Ridge and Two-Hearted Trails are still maintained by us today as some of the best 50” ORV Trails of the State of Michigan. In 2005 work started on getting the now Marquette-Manistique ORV Route established and state designated. We then began managing the 48 miles of this trail from Shingleton West to Marquette. In 2015, we worked closely with the MIDNR and Munising Area Visitors Bureau to take over managing 80 miles of the area snowmobile trails. Restoration and improvement to make these some of the best trails to ride in the state is our focus with great progress being made. In 2018, our snowmobile trail management is expanding to our west and northeast with 21 additional miles of snowmobile trail.
