SEASON OFF TO A VERY SLOW START!
We still have not had enough snowfall yet to start regular grooming operations. A Snow storm is in the forecast with predictions ranging from a foot of snow to two or three over the next 5 days. Depends on which forecast you want to look at so we will wait and see. As soon as the machines get into regular grooming operations we will let you know. Until then Reports will still be limited.
We did send the big Deere out today to do some panning. She ran from Shingleton on Trail 8 to M-94 West of Trail 7 South. Also ran Trail 7 South to Doe Lake Road. Heaviest snow was 8 to 10 inches averaging 6 and tapering down to only a few heading South. This is prior to panning so thinner now with no base.
We have also been doing some last minute hard face welding on our Dubie Groomers. The process has been going great having our forklift with basket and access to a mobile crane.
On a sad note we already had a fatality this season on Trail 7 North of the Buckhorn. Speculation but it appears that the sleds skis got light cresting a hill before a corner heading straight into the woods. Thoughts go out to her family from all of us here at Alger SORVA for this tragic loss. PLEASE SLOW DOWN and take your time getting into this new season of riding so you can make it home safely.
Past 24 hour Grooming Operations: On Hold with some panning being done.
24 Hour Forecast: Partly Sunny, 20ºF, Winds S 5 to 10 mph
Currently: Partly Cloudy, 7º F, Winds SW 8
