HAPPY NEW YEAR!
NO NEW SNOW
No new snowfall over the last few days. Night before last we had a 3 to to 4 light inches fall so yesterday we sent both machines out for their first real run of the season. Conditions alternated between Poor to Fair as we crossed bands created by the lake-effect snow. The best we had measured was 4 inches of groomed trail base on a hard frozen ground. About 50 percent of what we panned did have rocks exposed, especially to the south of Buckhorn Road and west of Trail 7 north. Trail 417 and Trail 418 near AuTrain and west are un-groomable and very rocky. We do not want to overwork the very thin base and create “dirty snow” as trails will not hold up on sunny days for the rest of the season. With that said, grooming operations will be on hold until we see a substantial snowfall. The next 5 days do not look promising with sunny days in the 30’s. Weather forecast changes day by day so all we can do is hope for the best and continue the snow dances. For now we will continue to polish up the groomers and maybe update some of the electronic amenities in our 7130. Stay Tuned!
Past 24 hour Grooming Operations: Trail 8 from Shingleton West to Trail 417 intersection, Trail 7 North and South to CR440, Trail 418 West to AuTrain
Forecast: Sunny, High 30ºF, Winds S 5 mph to 10 mph
Currently: Sunny, 21º F, Winds S 9 mph with gusts to 18 mph
