Sledding Season Open But…….
The season officially open today but we have been hit with two big snow storms with wet and heavy snow over the past week.
There is easily two feet of snow on an unfrozen ground with hundreds of trees down, broken and/or leaning across our entire trail system. Bad thing is this second storm buried the downed trees making clearing more difficult. Our current plan is taking the machines out with teams of two people and chain saws to clear trees. No drags are going along, just packing the trails to help the ground freeze and packing in water holes while out clearing trees. This is going to take some time so please bear with our team of volunteers.
If out riding, watch for volunteer crews out clearing the trails. Feel free to stop and lend a hand, the sooner trees are cleared the sooner actual grooming can begin.
(Photographs taken 11/29 after the first storm hit during inspections of Trail 419 – thanks Anthony)
